Thanks, and Good Night

April 2, 2010 – 8:57 pm

I’d like to thank everyone in the Linux community for their appreciation and words of encouragement. I hope that this tool has helped the people who use it, be it learning from its code or helping them work more efficiently. Unfortunately, I have lost interest in developing Parcellite further and I encourage the community to fork it and continue its development.

I will continue to write open source code as my time allows, just not related to clipboard management. Keep an eye out for other apps written by me :)

  2. I just discovered your app tonight in Ubuntu. The only clipboard manager I found when I searched using the built in Ubuntu Software Centre. Obviously, a solid app to be chosen. I look forward to exploring it and sharing my thoughts on my blog http://thesourcelab.com

  3. Ho… sad news. I hope someone take the developement back. Parcellite is realy usefull, I still can’t understand why it’s not in standard gnome tools.
Did you post this news on gnome mailing lists ?

  5. Darn, I was just going to post a bug about about how Parcellite doesn’t have an editable panel icon so I can make on for the Elementary theme.

Any advise on where the Parcellite -panel icon image is? I want to edit it.

Here is a work from the Elementary icon theme creator:

“The thing is that most applications currently don’t support monochrome panel icons. So, if you can’t find it, it’s probably not there.

You will need to contact the developers of those applications and ask them if their tray icons support such behavior and what icon names it looks for.

If they don’t support it, you will need to file a bug against those applications (not against elementary) and ask the developers to please add a check to their tray icon so that it tries to find a monochrome icon (usually it’ll be the app’s name plus “-panel”)”

  6. Thanks very much for Parcellite, and good luck with whatever your next project is.

  7. @Brett

The icon is the stock paste icon (gtk-paste I believe).

  8. :( I have tried to switch to other clipboard managers, but parcellite works simply better than any other.
Thank you very much for this little app, I really hope that somebody with programming skills will continue the project.
As long as it works with next versions of gtk+, parcellite will still sit in my notification area doing its job, and doing it well! :)

  9. I just hope it is in maintenance mode and not totally abandoned, as I find it featureful enough for everyday use. Thanks for making it into such!

  15. Thanks for Parcellite!

    One question:
What I really miss is the option to save clipboard contents in a text-format to a log-file,
    something like /var/log/clipboard.
Would this be a difficult to program feature?
I gogled 4 hours to find a solution, with no result.
    Thanks!,

  21. I’ve forked it on bitbucket.org, and added two convenient features (show the number of entries; merge all entries). Anyone who is interested can take a look at http://bitbucket.org/winus/parcellitemod.
