Noted bugs in RC3 - will be delayed until end of Sep/Oct 2011

September 5, 2011 – 5:24 pm

I’ve verified several of the recently filed bugs against 1.0.2rc3. I’ll address them when I have time. This job stuff sure gets in the way of more interesting things.

Sorry for the delay and irritation!  But I’ll get them squished. Until then, I’ve fixed the broken primary selection bug (in trunk, svn 233).  I may release rc4 ASAP with that fixed, since it is VERY irritating.

Cheers.

1.0.2rc3 is Released

August 8, 2011 – 1:34 am

The source can be downloaded here.

Here are the debian binaries (.deb) files:
i386
amd64.

v1.0.2rc3 Sunday, August 7 2011
Changes
+Fixed xdg compliance, based on patch by Victor Ananjevsky.
+Fixed Status Icon missing on execute Action.
+Fixed Capture Hyperlinks only
+Added Ignore Whitespace only
+Added Trim Whitespace
+Added Trim Newlines
+Fixed Actions having HTML markup in the clipboard entry.
+Fixed goption warning (pending verification).
+Updated Russian (Alexander Kazancev).
+Updated Catalan translation, position type. (Fuertes::Benjami)

I still have work to do, but many of the annoying bugs are gone.
Search-as-you-type still doesn’t work with all languages. I need to get with some friends of mine who have a different keyboard to debug this.

The documentation on the Ctrl/Shift right click behavior on the history just now made it into SVN. It will show up in rc4. I’m seriously considering adding a ‘permanent’ history list - perhaps with a drag/drop between the current history and the new one - and it would come up with a different hot key, or perhaps with menu item on the normal history menu. Still figuring this one out. Someone suggested this idea, and it occurred to me that I would use it a lot.

Enjoy!

1.0.2rc2 is Released

April 8, 2011 – 9:49 pm

The source can be downloaded here.

Here are the debian binaries (.deb) files:
i386
amd64.

v1.0.2rc2     Tuesday, April 05 2011
Changes
+Fixed E, Alt-E (edit clipboard) not working bug.

Known bugs:

  • Status icon disappears when executing Actions (fixed in svn).
  • Search-as-you-type doesn’t work with all languages.

Thanks, vladdyokin, for providing feedback on this little detail that I did not test throughly.

Just a side note, but 1.0.2 will be the final release. I will increment the rcX number for each bug fix. I intend for 1.0.2 to be the last significant functional change, so please let me know the bugs you encounter. I reserve the right to change my mind. :)

Here’s how to use the new interface (copy of 1.0.2rc1 notes - one day they’ll be in the man page.):

I’ve got some really nice features for multiple deletes - makes cleaning up the clipboard history really nice, and pretty much obsoletes using the clear.  You can do shift-right drag now and it will mark the entries as ready for delete. Hitting Ctrl-right drag will select individual items, and it toggles the delete. When you’ve got all the items you want deleted marked (with strike-through), you hit enter and the deletion is done.

I’ve changed the key release to a key press so it reverts to pre-1.0.0 behavior.

To use the new interface, use the Ctrl or Shift key in conjunction with right-click. If you hold Ctrl, then it toggles the delete on a single item. If you hold Shift while holding down right-click, then it toggles each item as it enters the item.  To complete the delete, hit enter.

Enjoy!

This has bug fixes and new delete features. Here is i386, and here is amd64.

+Changed item_length to go down to 5 and up to 100.

I’m not so brave to suggest it’s ready for a release, hence rc1.

Apparent key delay in 1.0.0 and 1.0.1

March 20, 2011 – 10:24 pm

Can anyone confirm that the key delay is due to the fact that parcellite now uses key releases instead of key presses?  Does the delay go away if you hit ctrl-C followed by a key release?

Dev broke Clear in 1.0.0 and 1.0.1

March 19, 2011 – 6:14 pm

Well, there’s quite a outrage about 1.0.1. It seems I’ve broken the clear history. It is fixed in src/main.c in trunk, however the workaround for now is to turn on search as you type, and use Alt-C to clear. I’ll see if I can’t add this as a programmable action under the Actions tab, so you can use any key-combo you wish. If you want to fix your source and re-compile, grab main.c and put in src/.
There’s also some confusion about the right-click-delete. It’s not perfect, and right-click delete does make the menu disappear, however you will notice that the next time you bring the history up, then entry you right-clicked on is deleted. I don’t really like this action, so I’ll try to figure a good way to change it.

I’m working on 1.0.2, which fixes some build issues, and fixes the clear history bug.  I may add a drag-select, and try to fix the clumsy right-click-delete.

There’s also reports about some keyboard delay. This may be related to the Alt-C that is active with the search-as-you-type.  I’ve not been able to duplicate, but I use Alt-H.  I’ll see if I can find it.  Sorry for the bugs!  That’s the problem with features, though.

Parcellite 1.0.1 is released.

March 10, 2011 – 4:47 am

Parcellite 1.0.1 has been released. It can be downloaded here.

This is a build fix release, and new debian package releases. Here is i386, and here is amd64.

v1.0.1 Thursday, March 9 2011
Changes
+Fixed build so dist-clean does not remove icons.
+Added wrapper p_strcmp so it builds with Gtk <2.16 (built on Ubuntu Gutsy only 386 install I have).
+Added i386 deb package (Ubuntu Gutzy)
+Added amd64 deb package (build on Debian squeeze).

Parcellite 1.0.0 is Released!

March 7, 2011 – 3:51 am

Parcellite 1.0.0 has been released. It can be downloaded here.

v1.0.0 Wednesday, March 2 2011
Changes
+Created new icon ‘parcellite’ and added it to install.
+Moved newline to after elipsizing (thanks, Christian).
+Added right-click delete.
+Added history location
+Added search as you type.
+Added Data Size limt.

Search as you type has a case-sensitive option and it changes the way the history works. Unchecking search as you type should restore the previous operation.
The new operation is as follows:
1) Alt-E/Alt-C must be used instead of the old accelerators e/c.
2) Background turns red when string is not found.
3) Finds search strings in any part of the string.
Also, I fixed the enter key not working, and the data size limit takes a stab at limiting the size of the data placed in the history, however it does not limit the size of the text placed on the clipboard which may still OOM the kernel for huge text copies (> system RAM size).

SVN updated

January 18, 2011 – 1:17 am

I have added the parcellite Icon, added right-click delete, and improved efficiency when displaying the history.

Next up are search-as-you-type and XDG_* compatibility. These last two are *not* in SVN yet. I try not to put anything that hasn’t been tested into SVN.

I plan on releasing 1.0 when the above two are tested.
Enjoy.

Request for Comment

December 24, 2010 – 7:00 pm

I currently have 2 prototypes working. Search-as-you-type and Right-click -delete.

Anyone care to comment on those two? If you have feature requests, please go here:
Feature Tracker

For instance, Does anyone want confirmation on the delete? (I think no)
Should the deleted item be placed in the clipboards when it is deleted? (I think yes)

Does search-as-you-type need to place the currently found item in the clipboards, or do we require a left-click to put them there (I think the latter).

Also on the plate are the XDG compliance (Thanks, Victor) and changing the icon. Here’s the new icon:New Icon
It is obtained from here:
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/gnome-themes-extras/0.9/gnome-themes-extras-0.9.0.tar.gz
Then modified for parcellite. The base image is GPL 2 or later, which fits parcellite’s licensing.
